How New Foods are Added to the 800 Calorie HCG Diet Phase 2
New foods for the HCG diet in 2023 include not only hundreds of snacks but also substantial carb substitutes. Starting with the parameters of Dr. Simeons’ plan regarding carbs and sugars, we added many new products that were not available in his era.
I have added low-carb products such as Wasa Crackers, wraps, and pitas that follow the carbs and calories of the Melba Toasts from the 1950’s. I have also added protein shakes and bars containing 0-2 grams of sugar and less than 5 grams of carbs. Recently we have added many low calorie/low carb-low fat snacks. Even low carb bagels and breads are acceptable. The key is to avoiding high carb foods with high glycemic indices. The more the variety and the better the food plan adds more choices, the better chance of long term success.

What if I Can’t Find HCG Foods in My Area?
We would be surprised if you couldn’t find any HCG foods because most are readily available at any grocery store. This is by design to make it easy for you to stick with the diet. The shopping list gives the best brands, however some might not be available in all parts of the country. If some of these exact products are not available in your area or you have limited selections, don’t worry. You still have many choices!
Amazon.com carries a wide variety of HCG foods, especially the bars, beverages, condiments, and prepared varieties, at very reasonable prices. Check out my Amazon store, where I have found and listed all of the HCG foods for you. If you are an Amazon Prime member or you have signed up for Prime Pantry, you can get your food delivered right to your door in as little as 2 days.
At the supermarket, when you are looking for HCG foods that are not on the list, look at the calories first. The total fat and sugar should each be less than 2-3 grams. When either fat or sugar is slightly greater than 2 grams follow the 2 +2 rule: the sugar and fat added together should be less than 4 grams. If the sugar meets this test, the next test is “net carbs”. Net carbs are the carbs actually absorbed by the body and should be 10 grams or less per portion:
NET CARBS = Total Carbohydrate – Dietary Fiber – Sugar Alcohols – Artificial sweeteners (1 gram or less)
Also, many new HCG foods have come on the market in the last few years – with more arriving every week. These include vegetable-based substitutes for rice, pasta, and potatoes, no carb chips, no sugar cookies, and zero sugar ice cream. You may have to go to Whole Foods for a few of them, but you can find most of them at your local grocery store or on Amazon.
