Lose Weight Quickly with Qsymia- New Diet Pill

Qsymia,  diet pill in Miami, is the first new diet medication approved by the FDA  in 15 years.  The FDA has released this new weight loss medications to help individuals struggling to lose weight because after many years of frustration it came to the conclusion that most weight loss physicians know, its almost impossible to lose large amount of weight with some form of assistance. The forces that tell some individuals to eat are so powerful as to make “will power” almost useless over the long term. I am not talking about 10 or 15 lb, but 50 to 100 and even more lbs.  The signals to eat converge on the appetite centers of the brain from the environment, brain, stomach and even the fat stores.

Qsymia: Diet Pill in Miami-First of the New Wave of Diet Medication

The first of this  “new” series of  diet medications to be released was Qsymia—a combination of two older medications—phentermine and topamax.

Qsymia reduces appetite and produces fullness and  early satiety resulting in consuming much less food. The result of these dual actions is rapid weight loss. This is a very effective drug for large amounts of weight loss. It is especially effective   for those with cravings, compulsive eating and  large appetites.  The feelings of fullness produced by the drug is as important as the significant reduction in  appetite. This is a drug approved for long-term use-months and even years. It has substantial benefits for those individuals who have a great deal of weight to lose and are willing to take the drug for long periods of time. The fact that it comes in four different dose levels makes individualization of dose quite easy. I have prescribed it to more than 200 patients over the past 3 years with good results. The image below shows how the components of Qsymia reach the hypothalamus in the brain and activate various brain chemicals that reduce appetite and cravings as well as producing fullness.

What is New Weight Loss Medication: Qsymia?      It’s Part Phentermine!

Qsymia is a new diet pill  that is made by Vivus Pharmaceuticals.  It is really two older drugs, phentermine and topamax. Phentermine has been used for more than 25 years as an appetite suppressor. It is the most famous and widely used of all diet medications. Marketed as Adipex, Ionamin and Fastin it has widespread use around the world. It is one of the components of Qsymia as well.  Topamax has been used for a long time as treatment for headaches and seizures. Each drug has a different effect in the brain. It is believed catecholamines reuptake inhibition in the hypothalamus of the brain may result in less appetite and thermogenesis( increase in metabolism). Topamax works by decreasing appetite and increasing satiety in another part of the brain.

Qsymia is illustrated with the release of http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm312380.htmphentermine early in the

Dr Lipman’s Experience Treating Patients with Qsymia;  Individualizing Dosing of Qsymia for Maximal Weight Loss

Dr Lipman has treated more than 300 patients with Qsymia since it was approved several years ago. His patients lost between 2.5 and 3.5 lbs per week over the average of 8 weeks. Many lost more in the beginning. Many who had a large amount of weight to lose took the medication for 8 to 12 months with excellent results. Side effects were few and did not limit its use. Dr Lipman was able to eliminate most side effects by  individualizing dosage according to patient responses. Many  patients, especially older ones do very well on the starter dose of 3.75/23. Most patients lose the most weight on the 7.5/46 dose  and elect to remain on this dose. Dr Lipman has learned that there is  considerable difference in response to the medication from person to person and the most successful weight loss patients are those that that the lowest, effective dose.
